On December 31 and January 1, there will be changes in the operation of public transport, parking lots and customer service centres
"Rīgas satiksme" informs that on the New Year's Eve, December 31, and the New Year's Day, January 1, there will be changes in the operation of public transport, municipal parking lots and customer service centres. Due to the spread of Covid-19 and the restrictive measures introduced in the country, this year, on December 31 and January 1, the public transport in Riga will not be free of charge, as it was previous years.
Public transport
This year, the New Year will be celebrated in Riga without the usual mass events, including without the traditional holiday salute.
Given that the passenger flow in public transport has decreased and the passengers flow is expected to fall at the end of the year, on December 31 and January 1, buses, trolleybuses and trams will run according to the holiday schedule. The passengers, who have purchased weekday tickets, should note that on December 31 and January 1, weekday tickets will not be valid for use in the public transport.
On the New Year's Eve and the New Year's Day, the express buses of route No. 300 will run according to the holiday schedule. The express buses of other routes will not run during the holidays.
In order to limit the spread of Covid-19 in the country, enhanced safety measures have been introduced and the engagement of everyone is required. We call on the citizens to use public transport during the emergency situation only when it is really necessary.
